Morning

Adirah got up at 6:30. It was dark and I felt exhausted. I got her dressed (success!) and brought her downstairs. I got her fed (another success!!!!) and played cash register with her. I made her lunch and woke her brother. But then she went upstairs and began getting UNDRESSED. By now she had been up and dressed for over an hour. We needed to leave for school. It was not the time for getting undressed. "Asher, Asher!" Adirah called as she cried and screamed, "Mommy is being mean, she won't let me get undressed". Asher went upstiars to see if he could help. A little while later her returned and reported, "Adirah is not going to have the best attitude if she doesn't get what she wants." I nodded. He could help her change. Asher ran upstairs "Good news!" He shouted to Adirah. "Mommy said you could change." When they came back downstairs Adirah was wearing the exact same thing she was wearing yesterday.

Water Bottle

My glass water bottle broke. The one that is wrapped in cool webbed plastic so it won't break. "When did your glass water bottle break?" Adirah asked this morning "The one that is grey and has a grey cap?" "It fell honey" I said. "Where were you when it fell?" Adirah asked pressing for detail. This girl really is my daughter. "We were at the memorial service,"I reminded her. "It was in a brown paper bag and it fell off a high chair" "Oh," said Adirah. "I know where we can get another one! At the  Food Coop. I see them there every time we go. Above the sink. But not the bathroom sink" I knew just where she was describing, but I didn't remember that the People's Food Coop sells those same kind of water bottles until Adirah reminded me. "You are so observant!" I told her! And I laughed. And she laughed. It is nice to have a helper!
